Cupcakes for adults, a chocolate lovers paradise!


25g cocoa powder
50g unsalted butter
100g golden caster sugar
1 medium egg
85g plain flour
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/4 tsp of baking powder
100ml double cream
100g dark chocolate


  1. Preaheat oven to 200C
  2. Mix the cocoa powder with 100ml of boiling water, cool to room temperature
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar
  4. Beat in the egg
  5. Sift and fold in the dry ingredients
  6. Mix in the cocoa solution
  7. Divide the mixture between cake cases
  8. Bake in the oven for about 18 mins until risen and springy tot he touch.
  9. Leave to cool
  10. Bring the cream to the  boil
  11. Break the chocolate into pieces and pour the cream over the pieces of chocolate, leave for a few minutes
  12. Mix untill all chocolate has dissolved
  13. Spoon mixture over cakes
  14. Leave to set for an hour

You can decorate these cakes with chocloate swirls or sweets of your choice.
